How much does an Oil Tank Removal Cost in NJ?

Oil Tank Removal Cost in NJ

When considering removing a buried Oil Tank, there are a few factors that come into play when preparing for the removal cost. These factors include the size of the tank, the location of the tank, the contents inside of the tank and the municipality or city where the tank is located.

Oil Tank Removal CostWhy Does the size of the buried Oil Tank Matter?

The Tank size will determine the amount of material needed to fill the excavation after the Oil Tank is removed, therefore if your Oil Tank is 1000 gallons as opposed to 550 gallons, you can expect a slightly higher cost due to the extra material needed to fill the excavation.

Can you explain “contents” inside the tank?

The contents inside of the tank will be a factor in the price of your removal.  A buried oil tank can be filled with Oil, sand, gravel, foam, concrete, etc.  If the buried UST (Underground Storage Tank) is full of oil, a pump will be required to remove the oil which in most cases will add a “Pump Out” fee to the charge.  If the Tank is filled with sand or foam or gravel, additional charges will apply to remove and dispose of these materials properly.  If the Underground Oil Tank is filled with concrete, this material will need to be removed using additional tools, adding extra time and cost.

Why Does the Tank Location Matter when removing my Tank?

The location of the Oil Tank is one of the biggest factors in determining the cost of removal.  ADS Environmental uses Heavy machinery as our primary removal tool during the excavation and removal of an underground Oil Tank.  If the area where the tank is buried on the property is not accessible by machine, additional cost will be necessary due to needing manual labor necessary to Hand Dig the Oil Tank from the Ground as well as additional time and heightened workload.  Additional factors that may come into play for those looking to remove a tank in an area that is not open can be costs to replace landscaping. trees, sidewalks, patios, decks, etc. as well as the occasional need to relocate Air conditioning units and other utilities that may be obstructing the removal area.

Municipalities and Township Fees?
